“The Subconscious Mind Holds The Password To Freedom From Your Symptoms Of Anxiety.”
I’m sure you’ll agree that that was a pretty bold statement, so let me explain because it’s time we turned you from a sufferer towards freedom. Your subconscious mind is like the storage system for your entire being. It automates the way your body works, it holds onto every past moment that you reacted with fear to your symptoms of anxiety, and it’s always taking notes.
Taking notes? You mean right now in this very moment it’s taking tabs on what I focus on and how I react?
Absolutely. You see, the biggest problem with these symptoms of anxiety is that it reminds us unconsciously of the person that we are. For many anxiety sufferers it’s their identity, they have a relationship with these symptoms of anxiety, and there is a deep rooted fear of losing these feelings because it will feel like they are losing a part of who they are.
The 6 Logical Levels Of Change Will Explain This Better:
- Environment
- Behaviours
- Skills & Abilities
- Beliefs & Values
- Identity
- Purpose & Mission
Anxiety sufferers avoid the environments that cause these symptoms of anxiety, they tweak their behaviours, sometimes even add skill sets that might help them, but never truly understand that these are the pieces to a much bigger pie. We need a complete identity shift, a change in your self concept, a divorce from the way you see yourself.
A Shift In Identity Means You’re Going To Have To Give Up Certain Environments, People In Your Life, Habits, Foods, Etc And Replace Them So That It Fits With Your New Identity!
An identity shift means seeing your anxiety as something you do from time to time, not who you are, It means dis-identifying from it, and releasing the unconscious patterns that are fuelling further symptoms of anxiety within you. What are these unconscious patterns you ask?
- Waking up every morning, checking how you’re feeling, and connecting the feeling to how your day will go
- Feeling a symptom of anxiety throughout the day and connecting the idea that there may be something physically wrong with you
- Asking your comfort person if what you’re feeling is normal every time you get the same sensations
- Connecting the idea that these symptoms of anxiety are to be taken as reality, rather than it just being a feeling
- Avoiding the people, places, events that may bring up symptoms of anxiety
If you can relate to these unconscious patterns, these instincts you feel while going through you’re days comment below, I’d love to hear your experiences. Because I’ve been there, and have also have been able to completely rid myself of my old identity, and replace it with a new one.
Remember though changing your identity doesn’t happen overnight, and your unconscious mind will do everything in its power to suck you back into your anxiety identity. Here are the 3 reasons for the resistance you may feel right now as you go through this identity shift:
- We instinctively resists anything that goes against how we see ourselves (so be prepared)
- We instinctively resist anything that goes against how we think others will see us (will they accept me?)
- We instinctively resist anything that goes against what we believe to be true right now (if let go, what might happen?)
The brain sees anything you MUST do as being painful and anything you SHOULD do as being pleasurable. So when we think about how we must change our self image and identity we get resistance, this is important to understand as you begin to slowly detach from your symptoms of anxiety and re-programn a new you.
So now that we know we must begin to tap into our subconscious mind, and shift our identity from one way of seeing ourselves to another, what are the steps?
Step 1) Understand that your subconiosius mind doesn’t understand words! It understands feelings and images – This is a big reason from why counselling doesn’t work. Talking about your anxiety and walking around the pink elephant in the room doesn’t change a thing for most people.
You must tap into ways of changing how you feel (through posture and new breathing patterns) and take back control of your imagination with daily practice with imagery techniques
Step 2) Understand that the more action you take the faster and more powerfully you will begin changing your self concept and self image – This means that you have to stop moping, and start doing! You have to begin systematically putting yourself in situations that cause you symptoms of anxiety, and change the pairings in your subconscious mind through confronting
Step 3) You must clear up your emotional baggage from your past – Whatever happened in childhood, your teens, in your 20’s etc must be brought to the forefront of your consciousness and you must begin editing those past movies (in NLP we call the Reframing)
Step 4) You must begin seeing yourself as a magnet that is consistently giving off a certain frequency – The law of vibration states that everything moves and everything emanates a certain frequency. When you begin recognizing that every thought you attach yourself to, and every fear you give further focus to magnetizes you to more of that feeling, you can begin accepting and rejecting certain thoughts that appear
Step 5) Get back in touch with your V, A, K, O, G – Your senses dictate your thoughts, your thoughts, the thoughts you attach yourself to dictate the way you feel, the way you feel dictates your behaviours. So today is the day you begin practicing connecting with your visual, hearing, feeling, tasting, and smelling senses so you can begin turning off the internal chatter within you
Conclusion
I go much deeper into these and the other steps that are necessary to free yourself from your symptoms of anxiety in the end the anxiety program. For now understand that an identity shift is the only way out for an anxiety sufferer, it all comes down to this.
Everything you want is available to you, that little voice in the back of your head that says you can, can be louder, and those symptoms of anxiety you feel can once and for all be seen as what they truly are, uncomfortable, not life threatening.
