“With All The Talk Around CBD Oil For Anxiety, It’s Time To Dive A Little Deeper.”
More than 39 million Americans, aged 18 years or more, suffer from anxiety associated disorders. A variety of medications are available in the market for the treatment of these mental conditions. However, despite being effective in some anxiety sufferers, these drugs often do not elicit a favorable response in many generalized anxiety and health anxiety sufferers.
Some sufferers may find the side effects to be intolerable while others may not experience any easement in their anxiety levels. Also, certain medications like Xanax and Valium tend to be very addictive.
Over the past few years, a lot of medical experts, scientists, clinicians, and consumers have begun looking into the beneficial effects of CBD oil for anxiety. CBD oil or cannabidiol oil is extracted from the cannabis plant. It has chemicals called cannabinoids. The increased interest in CBD is due to the presence of evidence that indicates that CBD overcomes several adverse effects of THC.
Also, many different clinical, experimental, epidemiological, and animal studies have shown that CBD has potent anti-anxiety qualities.
When CBD oil is administered with the right dosage, it has been found to produce good tolerance, be safe, and help treat may different kinds of anxiety associated conditions like:
- OCD or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Depersonalization
- Panic disorder
- Social phobia
- GAD or Generalized Anxiety Disorder
- PTSD or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Moderate to mild Depression
- Working mechanism of CBD oil
Many actions are exercised by CBD on the brain and these actions have helped to understand the beneficial effects of CBD oil for anxiety. It may however be noted that proof of the benefits of CBD are based on animal studies and the results of the preclinical research may not necessary transfer to therapies for humans.
Some of the learnings from the different studies are:
- Spanish scientists via their animal studies found that CBD improves the transmission of 5-HT1A, which is a sub-type of receptor of serotonin hormone. It is known that medicines which target the body’s serotonin system can help treat some cases of depression and dealing with anxiety. This is the reason why pharmaceuticals companies have made SSRIs or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as Zoloft and Prozac.
These drugs prevent the re-absorption of serotonin hormone in the brain, thereby raising the presence of the hormone in the brain’s synaptic space. This in turn allows the brain cells to send additional serotonin signals, thereby helping decrease anxiety and enhancing the mood in some anxiety sufferers.
- The Spanish researchers found that just like SSRIs, CBD oil tends to improve signal transmission via serotonin receptors. The studies revealed that CBD boosts the transmission of 5-HT1A which tends to have a faster effect on serotonin as compared to SSRIs.
The scientists also noted that the rapid onset of the depression alleviating action of cannabidiol as well as the concurrent anti-anxiety response, may help resolve a few of the major restrictions of different anti-depressant drugs and therapies currently available in the medicine.
So in conclusion does CBD oil for anxiety do the trick? We don’t know, and each individual is different. There’ no harm in giving it some time and commitment in conjunction with a proven method around the teachings of CBT.

Hello. I suffer from GAD, Panic Disorder, and mood disorder. For about a year now I have been contemplating on taking my medication. Number one reason I DO NOT want to take my medication is due to the side effects. I have been prescribed Paxil (which I hear a lot of good stuff about it but also bad) I read the side effect and warning side effects that I should be aware of. One of them was that it might make me feel WORSE AND HAVE SUICIDAL THOUGHTS! Now that to be is beyond scary! I already feel like crap And taking a medication that’s suppose to help me can possibly make me feel worse? That to me sounds scary! So I’ve been researching a lot on CBD oil. All the good benefits and how it has helped many suffering from anxiety and depression. Then I come across this blog that talks about how it works just as an SSRI! That’s amazing. I would rather much try something that is organic made from Mother Nature than Some man made medication. Finally, my husband went out bought me the CBD oil capsules to try out first. Those did not settle well in my stomach ,so I tried vaping. Now let me tell you, I think it was the best thing ever. After 20 min I started calming down, I no longer felt hopeless and I actually felt like eating. Today I am on day 3 of vaping the cbd oil. I woke up feeling good. No head ache today, and I feel calm. It has not yet got me to the 100% where I want to be at but it’s better than nothing. I’m hoping this could help me through my hard time and I won’t have to take my medication. The good thing about CBD oil that is non-psychoactive therefore, you will not get high off of this. They take out the THC part (the part that gets you high) leaving you with CBD which gives you all the benefits.
Thanks for sharing.
I tried the vaping but it gave me that high feeling. I didn’t like it so now I’m trying the gummy’s and so far so good
Thanks for sharing Steve.
Where do you get the gummies? Online? It’s hard to know which companies are good.
I prefer the tinctures from CBD For The People. I’ve been using the 800MG 30ML bottle for 5 months now and it has been amazing with absolutely no high. Plus you can save 10% with coupon code “save10”.
I’ve been taking CBD oil for 12 days now & I do feel it is just starting in helping to reduce the intensity of the anxiety, helps me get to sleep quicker, and eat a bit better. All quite subtle but it can take 2-4 weeks to notice any difference. For anxiety it is also recommended to start on a low % CBD oil with a low dose & gradually build up your dose as too much too soon can make your symptoms worse.
It is not a cure but alongside CBT etc can help support you.
Great mindset and thanks for sharing your personal experience Emma.
It’s not just anxiety. Uncontrolled inflammation is also associated with depression and psychotic disorders. Lately I’ve been thinking about combining cannabinoid with low dose naltrexone an opioid receptor antagonist. My thinking is that since CBD also interacts with opioid receptors, as an allosoteric modulator, that by blocking those receptors we may get some novel interactions that I think may be beneficial for anxiety and other inflammatory related disorders.
Thank you for your input.
I tried both for 3mo. I started to get increased anxiety from the ldn. When I stopped, the CBD
was more effective.
Thanks for sharing your own experience.
This is a really good article describing the benefits of cannabidiol.
In a certain study, the placebo group presented higher anxiety, cognitive impairment, discomfort, and alert levels when compared with the control group. Eighty percent patients said that cannabis products are effective, so the results are certainly promising!
Thank you for sharing.
Very interesting article. I have terrible anxiety and nausea and I have been working with a Functional Medicine Practitioner for my gut issues, plus I have Hashimoto’s, under active thyroid, post menopause and also a mycotoxin issue. I wake up with anxiety and nausea every day, some days not quite so bad as others. I have absolutely no idea what is driving my anxiety. I am on SSRI’s and have been for years but they arn’t working that well anymore but I am on Seroxat so not looking to wean off because it’s the worst one on the market.
My FD recommended CBD oil some time ago but I never went with the idea due to the expense. She uses it a lot for other patients apparently and has seen good results but I am hesitant and I don’t know why. I am not helping my health issues with all this anxiety. I get agoraphobic, fatigued, can’t think straight either. Is it worth my trying it to you think. I am sick of popping Propanolol and Diazepam to try and control it. So desperate please can someone help. If I try, are there any side effects?
I am worried what’s happening to me these past few days. I’m in the right mind to think now so i take this opportunity to ask for some help. I read along the way this article https://www.worldwide-marijuana-seeds.com/blogs/marijuana-news/how-high-can-you-go that maybe CBD can help me. I am experiencing a behavior where i feel like i am alone but i am not. I’m stressing myself with no reason, i over think with small things, i feel like im too emotional everytime someone says something about me. I know i need a professional opinion about this but i just want to have an alternative solution and i read that CBD can help me. I am not sure if this thing works. So does anybody tried it? I need a help. Please..
the effect of cannabis user can depend upon the dose, the prior experience and/or personal expectations. the user can be high, very happy and relaxed. but it depends upon the user if he takes a higher dose. but base in my researching, cannabis can relief some seizures in the children with autism. I read an article kylekushman.com/topic/lets-make-our-own/ and based on this, cannabis can relief seizures and there’s no high effect on the children who take it.
Thanks for sharing.
I’ve tried cbd oil and had adverse side effects. It left me feeling more anxious and more on edge. For me your CBT end the anxiety program was a better option. I seem to have a very high sensitivity to drugs.
Thanks for sharing Leah. Glad you’re progressing through the program.
Thank you so much for the thorough CDB OIL explanation and the ideas behind it. I did purchase some and it did calm me down a bit, but i just purchased your program and i am super exited to go through it. I am starting it today:
Dennis, Thank you so very much for your time, your patience, and for being there for so many people with health anxiety, which is a very torturing thing. I’ve had it for more than 20 years myself. What you are doing is absolutely incredible. God bless you. Thanks again and again,:):):)

Hello,
I have been on dozens of medications for anxiety and depression. I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder. After hearing about CBD possibly helping these conditions, I went to a local shop that sells a high quality CBD oil tincture.
Five to fifteen minutes after taking the first dose, I felt, well “a little strange”. 30 minutes later, my anxiety started melting away. I was starting to be happy almost. I was enthusiastic so far! Fast forward a week later, and now my anxiety is completely GONE, and I am no longer depressed.
I don’t understand why some are hesitant to try a good CBD oil brand. Quality is everything with CBD, and one should find a reputable supplier locally, or online.
CBD has changed my life for the better.
Thanks for sharing your personal experiences Adam.
Very interesting and informative. Health is the most important part of life nothing is more valuable than good health and massage is very good for healthy life specially the use of Cbd and hemp oils are very beneficial for us.
Thanks for sharing.
CBD has done wonders for my night time anxiety, like waking up in the middle night and not being able to fall asleep because I randomly get anxiety in the middle of the night. I don’t get that anymore since I started taking CBD before bed. It’s wonderful.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with CBD and anxiety.
Do i need a prescription from my doctor
Not in Canada at least Cherri.
