Can laziness be used as an anxiety remedy? Today you will find out, along with diving deep into the clarity you need to see how your current lifestyle habits are fueling your anxiety disorder. Let’s Go!
Welcome to a thought-provoking episode of the Anxiety Guy Podcast. I’m your host, and today we’re diving deep into an unconventional yet vital topic – “The Healing Power of Laziness As An Anxiety Remedy.”
You might be wondering how laziness can possibly be related to healing anxiety, but stick with me, and you’ll discover a fresh perspective.
As someone who’s experienced anxiety firsthand, I know that anxiety sufferers are often seen as “doers.” We lead frenzied lives, constantly chasing success, expanding our social circles, and fearing what the future holds if we ever let go of our anxious identities. But what if I told you that a little bit of laziness might be the key to relief?
It all starts with understanding that it’s our response to boredom that triggers our subconscious mind to push us into constant action. We’ve been conditioned to believe that slowing down, letting go, or even indulging in seemingly mundane activities is a waste of time. But the surprising truth is that resisting this so-called “laziness” can often worsen our anxiety.
Laziness, as counterintuitive as it may sound, can actually give us permission to take a step back from our relentless pursuit of success.
By allowing ourselves to be still and observe our surroundings, we send a powerful message to our nervous systems – we don’t need to be on high alert for every potential threat in the future. Laziness can be a calming influence on our nervous system and activate our parasympathetic system, paving the way for mental and physical healing.
I’ve noticed that many people who lead content, long lives share a common trait – they have the ability to let things go, adopting a laid-back attitude that keeps them in a parasympathetic state. In contrast, the modern world often bombards us with anxiety, rush, and stress.
By embracing moments of laziness, we become more present, shifting our focus from an anxiety-riddled future to the here and now.
This shift can create a parasympathetic state and promote a sense of environmental safety, rather than constant threat. Laziness allows us to become comfortable with our anxiety symptoms, placing them in the background of our lives instead of the forefront.
I encourage you to master the art of “being lazy” as an anxiety remedy for you.
Through consistent practice, this approach can help your symptoms subside and reduce the need for their presence in your life. So, give laziness a chance, embrace the power of being present, and make it an anxiety remedy within your anxiety healing toolkit.

Once I’ve got nothing specific that I’m working on, I begin to get lots and lots of random thoughts. Usually, I find a lot of creative ideas in this phase and I just start searching for them. Or I fall asleep. Else, the anxiety takes over.
To be honest, this is the best idea I’ve seen all year. I wish I had seen it earlier.
I’m just glad it spoke to you Mirai. Sometimes one moment of clarity can set us free from years of self destruction and anxiety.
