Have I Actually Overcome Chronic Anxiety Fully?

May 1, 2017

Many people cannot believe that I have overcome chronic anxiety fully, and today I share with you how I did it.

I get this question all the time:

“Dennis, Have You Actually Overcome Chronic Anxiety Fully?”

When I get this question I almost always know it’s coming from a place of disbelief from the sufferer. Recovery, a place so foreign to people with chronic anxiety.

A world that seems so far away for the moment, and I understand the pain fully.

In this episode of The Anxiety Guy podcast (which you can also find on my YouTube channel) I go into great detail as far as how the past was for me living with debilitating health anxiety and GAD, my present life, and where my future lies. And as far as the newest Warriors listening to their first podcast episode, the message from this day forward is clear:

“Every Anxious Moment Is An Opportunity To Practice A New Approach.”

Everything begins with mindset. The way we approach life, and the perceptions we have of ourselves. That is why when we start to see anxious moments as opportunities to use new CBT tools we’ve learned, we become less sensitized to thoughts and environments.

So get ready warriors to gain a deeper look into whether or not i’m done with anxiety, and let’s answer this questions once and for all. Does ‘Dennis still get those anxious feelings when thoughts arise’, and when things don’t go the way he wants, or have I been able to experience a sense of self mastery, and become bigger than my problems?

In Episode #62 Of The Anxiety Guy Podcast We Will Be Learning About:

  • The ways chronic anxiety manifests and how we sustain the feeling without knowing
  • How I approach daily life today
  • Where I get the fuel to constantly stand guard at the doorway of my mind

Well done for overcoming anxiety! I think that looking at anxiety as an opportunity for improvement is definitely a good way to look at it – instead of seeing it as a negative thing, see it as an OPPORTUNITY! I think too many people focus on this, and think of it as a failure, which is counter-productive and can lead to a knock on effect on more anxiety. Changing your way of thinking can be difficult, but it’s worth it in the end!

    • In all my 1 on 1 sessions I begin with these words: “Every Anxious Moment Is An Opportunity To Practice A New Approach.” The oppositite of running, hiding, avoiding behavior that empowers anxiety sufferers.
